 Dr Martin Bartos
Martin, 35, was brought up just outside Glasgow and educated at Baljaffray Primary, Douglas Academy and Edinburgh University.He has lived in the Kelvin constituency for the past seven years and is currently an NHS doctor specialising in mental health and working on the south side of Glasgow. His work gives him daily experience of the effects of poverty, alcohol, exclusion, crime and drugs on the people of Glasgow.
As Green candidate for Glasgow North in the 2005 general election, Dr Bartos attained the highest Green vote share in Scotland and the fifth highest in the UK. In 2004 he gained the highest Green vote in Glasgow, coming second in the Glasgow Kelvin constituency, just 1,243 votes behind New Labour. Building on this success, he is standing as the Scottish Green Party's only constituency candidate, in addition to being third on the Glasgow regional list.
